Nature’s bounty

More than 200 species of animals have been recorded on the 7,500-hectare Bushmans Kloof reserve, alongside 755 species of indigenous fynbos plants, many of which are endemic to the region, and our experienced field guides lead daily nature excursions. In the springtime (August to September) the region is famous for its dazzling display of wildflowers, transforming the landscape into a riot of colour.

Get active outdoors

Alongside guided nature drives, guests can fill their days at Bushmans Kloof exploring the well-marked hiking and mountain biking trails, canoeing on the dam, fly-fishing for endemic Clanwilliam Yellowfish, or discovering the finer points of archery. While Cape Mountain Leopards have been recorded on the reserve, these shy predators are rarely seen, allowing guests to independently explore the pristine mountain landscape in complete safety.
