Enjoy an afternoon nature drive where guests can visit our Sandfish Nursery Dams. The nursery dams are safe havens for this endangered species. After a year or more, these fish reach a bass-proof size and are then released back into the Biedouw to boost adult sandfish numbers in the wild.

About your experience

In this experience, you will enjoy a scenic nature drive in an open game viewing vehicle with your guide down into the Biedouw Valley. Your guide will assist you to identify many flowering plants. Enjoy this natural wonder whilst driving along the last known sandfish spawning tributary and visit the 8.5km restoration zone (Part of the Biedouw Restoration Project) along the Biedouw River. Please note this experience is only available in the Spring Wildflower Season (August to September).

At Bushmans Kloof guests have the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the Doring River’s biggest endemic fish species, the Clanwilliam Yellowfish and Sawfin. These iconic fish are ambassadors for clean healthy rivers. Your guide will educate you about the lifecycle of these incredible creatures, as well as the vital role they play in the ecosystem. Please note the fishing is strictly catch and release.
