BUSHMANS KLOOF WILDERNESS RESERVE & RETREAT DEBUTS
IN CONDÉ NAST TRAVELER USA GOLD LIST 2009

Cape Town January 2009: Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Retreat ranks amongst the best hotels around the globe – this is according to over 32 000 readers of Condé Nast Traveler USA, whose votes helped to determine the magazine’s 15th Annual Gold List Awards.

Making its debut on this international ‘roll of honour’ with a superb rating of 90.5, Bushmans Kloof was singled out, together with a handful of South Africa’s top destinations that included sister hotel The Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa, as one of the Best Hotels in the Middle East & Indian Ocean region.

Based on the Condé Nast Traveler USA Reader’s Choice Awards, where readers vote for their best hotels, the prestigious 2009 Condé Nast Traveler USA Gold List is widely used by American travellers and is recognised as ‘a compendium of properties as reliable as bullion itself’.

Citing the combination of breathtaking scenery; warm, welcoming staff; world-class cuisine and ancient Bushman rock art as the reserve’s X-factor, Conde Nast Traveler USA readers gave Bushmans Kloof an unqualified ‘thumbs up’ underscored by animated tributes. ‘The scenery is amazing at this colonial wellness retreat surrounded by sandstone rock formations in the Western Cape, 170 miles north of Cape Town. Rooms are in buildings in a garden setting, and are connected by pebble pathways. ‘The staff's friendliness is truly memorable,’ not least at Embers (one of the reserve’s extraordinary outdoor dining venues), where the menu focuses on contemporary Cape cuisine. ‘The hot-stone massage is phenomenal.’ Learn from the resident archaeologist about the reserve's numerous ancient rock-art sites.’
