Cape Town (South Africa), December 2009: News hot off the international press is that the dining experience and cuisine at Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat has received global acclaim, with Bushmans Kloof being voted one of only three winners in the coveted ‘Best Hotels for Food in Africa, Middle East and the Indian Ocean’ category of the 2010 Condé Nast Traveller UK Gold List. Sharing the title with Bushmans Kloof are Le Quartier Francais in Franschhoek, and all-villa resort, Maia in the Seychelles.
Acknowledged as one of the world’s leading travel magazines, the Condé Nast Traveller’s Gold List, now in its 6th year, is widely regarded as one of the ultimate guides to the world’s best hotels.
Citing Executive Chef Floris Smith’s ‘contemporary Cape cuisine’ using ‘local ingredients and indigenous herbs’, as the X-factor, along with the exciting choices of dining here that range from ‘BBQ’s at Embers, to formal dining at the Homestead’, readers gave Bushmans Kloof their unequivocal stamp of approval.
Says Managing Director, Clive Bennett, of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection in South Africa, which incorporates Bushmans Kloof: ‘Being commended for our cuisine on a global level for the first time, is indeed an honour and a fitting accolade to end off the successes of 2009. It was an exceptional year for us, which saw Bushmans Kloof voted the Best Hotel in the World in the 2009 US Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards readers’ survey. It was also a particularly meaningful year for us in terms of conservation and sustainable tourism, two aspects of our business which are very close to our hearts, with Bushmans Kloof being voted Global Winner of Wildlife Conservations Programs (2009) in the US Condé Nast Traveler World Savers Awards. We are very proud indeed of these achievements, and salute chef Floris Smith and his accomplished team for raising the bar at Bushmans Kloof once again, highlighting a different facet of the experiential travel experience, that is Bushmans Kloof.’
